Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. But for a young Irish girl who was surrounded by gifted parents and extended family these characteristics were a naturally. Maureen entered the safe haven of her parents on the 17th of August 1920, at Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was her mother. She was a accomplished contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and also owned part of the renowned Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this amazing family. Maureen loved playing rough sporting games in her youth and was a pro in athletics. Additionally, she had a gift acting. That was apparent that she was the winner of every Feis for theatre and drama that Ireland had to offer. When she turned 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her passion for classical theatre and singing opera.
