Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was a natural athlete and was a fan of tough athletic games. Her passion was coupled with the natural ability to perform. As evidenced by getting almost every Feis award for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 and explored her love of classical and opera. The course of her life was modified, however, when Charles Laughton, after seeing an audition for a film of Maureen fascinated by her beautiful, captivating eyes. Before deciding to cast her on the screen in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton and his partner, Erich Pommer, changed her name from Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" which was a little less slender name to be used for the marquee. Maureen FitzSimons' second film (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1939-1939) was planned to be made at RKO Pictures in America under an agreement with Laughton. Her contract with Laughton was acquired by RKO after this epic movie was a great big success. Maureen Laughton had appeared involved in two motion picture productions at the age of 19 years old.
